Get Rid of Puffy Eyes

It seems some people never have problems with their skin or their face at all. They seem to live life how they like without suffering any negative effects and their faces are perfectly sculpted and their skin clear and smooth. They always look fresh and natural and beautiful. And you sort of hate them.

This is especially true if you have a problem with puffy eyes or dark circles or bags under your eyes. It's hard to feel pretty when your eyes look swollen half the time. Of course you may know what to do about it, or you may have already tried all that without the effects you were hoping for.

There are many reasons you might get puffy eyes. The skin surrounding the eyes is extremely delicate and thin. That's why you find your first wrinkles there. It's also why your eyes can become swollen.

Fluids in your body are sometimes withheld in the cells. This can happen during the night while you sleep and around your eyes is the first place it may go. Especially if your head is not well elevated.

Another reason your may have puffy eyes is due to nasal congestion. This condition sometimes slows down the flow of blood to the tiny capillaries found throughout your face, and this can cause the skin around your blood to become raised.

You probably are aware that in order to get rid of puffy eyes you need to get enough sleep and drink enough water (which will not increase fluid retention). These are the first, most obvious things you should try. If you still have a problem, consider treating some of the deeper underlying problems in order to get rid of your puffy eyes.

Choose a diet that's low in too many carbohydrates. And certainly avoid foods high in salt. This is something that contributed greatly to fluid retention. Prepared foods and fast foods are both very high in salt and should be avoided. Also, eating foods that are rich in vitamins such as A, C and E can help keep your skin clear and reduce puffiness.

Sleep with your head elevated to avoid any pooling of fluids, which can help in getting rid of puffy eyes. For a short term solution you can use a cold compress on the eyes to help restrict the blood vessels and reduce swelling for a period.

If your eyes feel tired or strained you can use lavender water on a cotton ball to provide some relief.

Of course you are aware of the many lotions and creams on the market that claim to reduce the swelling or dark circles under your eyes. It's hard to know if these creams really do get rid of puffy eyes, especially when the claims they make seem unbelievable. One place you may look for reviews is online. People often review products that they have used and give their honest opinion of its performance. This may be a good source for you to use. Avoid reading reviews on the product's website, though, as those will certainly be positive and may not even be authentic.
